Yuriko Yamaguchi

Yamaguchi is a veteran Japanese voice actress and narrator born in 1965, active in the industry since 1990. She is best known to One Piece viewers as the original voice of Nico Robin.

Yamaguchi voices Nico Robin, the archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates, making her one of the anime's longest-serving cast members given how early the character joins the crew. Her portrayal has carried Robin through the show's many story arcs alongside Toei Animation's core ensemble.

Beyond One Piece, Yamaguchi is recognized for playing Ritsuko Akagi in Neon Genesis Evangelion and Sonia in Eureka Seven, two more long-tenured roles in landmark anime franchises.

Yamaguchi voices Nurse Joy in the Pokémon anime, a recurring character across the franchise. It is one of several long-tenured roles that define her career alongside One Piece, Evangelion, and Eureka Seven.

Yamaguchi was previously represented by the agency Vi-Vo before moving to her current agency, Aoni Production, where she continues to work today.
