Summary

Usopp shouts at the fallen Luffy to wake, while the Marines aboard the ships look on stunned at how easily the pirates are toppling their captains. Catching sight of his friend overhead, Luffy is startled. Keeping up a sour front, Usopp insists he turned up only to free Robin, not to see him, then throws down a challenge to Lucci. Luffy warns him off, but Lucci waves away any business with a man already defeated, promising they will all soon die regardless. Usopp tells Luffy to quit acting like a corpse and reminds him they have not yet reached the afterlife, and Luffy hauls himself upright.

Key Events

Astonished that his foe can still stand, Lucci uses Seimei Kikan: Kaijo to draw out his full power, then Shigan Madara, against which Luffy throws out his Gomu Gomu no Gatling. Lucci halts both fists before Luffy and fires Sai Dai Rin: Rokuogan, the strongest form of the technique, yet to his shock Luffy stays on his feet. Remembering Aokiji's warning that he would come to regret taking Robin into the crew, and recalling all she has done since Iceburg was shot, Luffy answers Lucci's Tekkai with a Gomu Gomu no Jet Gatling that pierces it instantly. Lucci is driven through the wall and lands outside, unconscious. Luffy calls to Robin that they are heading home together, bringing tears and a smile to her face, as the battleships report Lucci's fall.

Notes

Luffy at last brings down Rob Lucci. On the first page Oda slipped Kankichi Ryotsu of Kochikame in among the Marines, a tribute to that series' thirtieth anniversary. The cover continues the post-Skypiea feature, where Gan Fall, together with the Shandian Chief, shares pumpkin juice while the two plan how to rebuild and improve farming on Skypiea.
