Past Arc: The Locus of Konoha

This Naruto: Shippuden filler arc spans episodes 176 to 196 and is assembled almost entirely from flashbacks told by different characters. As the village clears the rubble left by Pain, figures like Iruka and Kakashi recall earlier chapters of Naruto's life. The first memory predates Part I, while the rest fall before the two-and-a-half-year time skip, each showing how their view of the boy shifted. The arc follows Pain's Assault and precedes the Five Kage Summit.

Iruka's segment traces how a reluctant young teacher came to care for the orphaned jinchuriki, ending with the lecture on the Will of Fire that first sparked Naruto's Hokage dream. Kakashi remembers taking charge of Team 7 and resolving to steer Sasuke off the road of hatred. Further memories revisit the squad's early missions: helping Inari find his courage in the Land of Waves, escorting a stubborn ostrich, breaking a revenge feud between rival swordsmen, and forging Gaara's first bond with Konoha by rescuing him from Suna assassins.

Lighter entries cover a false chakra virus scare that sends medical-nin chasing Naruto through the village, Team Tenten testing experimental tools, and Naruto's genjutsu training under Jiraiya, during which he first develops the Big Ball Rasengan while freeing a village from rogue Ame ninja.
