I'll Do You 1000 (Times): Who Is John Dragon Ball Saying That To?

The New Guy Had Nothing to Work With

Dragon Ball spends forty years telling you who a character is before he ever opens his mouth. Then Age 1000 put a brand new protagonist on screen with none of the shorthand the rest of the roster carries around: no saga behind him, no rival, no mentor to avenge. The fandom filled that silence itself and called him John Dragon Ball. What we wanted to know was what a man in that position says to a woman, and I'll Do You 1000 (Times) is our answer. He does not warm up to it.

The Fandom Named Him Before Anybody Official Did

Bandai Namco unveiled Project: Age 1000 at Genkidamatsuri in January 2026, built around a protagonist Akira Toriyama designed before his death in March 2024. The reveal landed and the internet treated the guy like a placeholder. John Dragon Ball is a John Doe joke about how ordinary he looked standing next to a roster of characters you can identify from across a room by their hair alone. TheGamer was covering the parody accounts and the fancams within days of the reveal. It started as a shot at him and stopped being one somewhere along the way.

So We Gave Him Rosé

Rosé is ours. She's the daughter of Beerus and Cheelai, and she exists because that pairing had been kicking around the fandom for a while and we wanted our own version instead of a remix of somebody else's. Long silver hair where Cheelai wears a pixie cut, gold hoops with chain detail, and enough of her father in the face that nobody has to ask whose kid she is. Her name follows the house rule Toriyama set, which is that Gods of Destruction get named after something you can order at a bar. We introduced her back when Age 1000 first got our attention.

Why the Joke Works

That naming rule was an accident, which we like about it. The story outline Toriyama was handed had taken Beerus from the word "virus." He read it as "beer," went with it, and named the attendant Whis after whiskey. Champa is champagne, Vados is calvados, and every God of Destruction since has been walking around with a bar tab for a name. Rosé keeps the rule. If you are going to drop an original character into somebody else's universe, she should at least be named the way that universe names people.

Two Characters Made Out of Other People's Parts

John's whole gimmick in Age 1000 is that he copies other fighters' techniques out of a simulator, so everything he can do belonged to a legend first. Rosé has the same problem from the opposite end. She's a bloodline, a God of Destruction on one side and one of Frieza's own defectors on the other, and people do the math on her before they meet her. So we put those two in a room together. Between them they own almost nothing.

What he offers her is the number, and it's the one thing in the song that isn't borrowed off somebody else. He can't flex a signature technique, because he doesn't have one yet. He has a figure and complete confidence in it, and he leads with that. A man with no history of his own walks up to a woman assembled from two of the loudest characters in the franchise and makes a claim so specific that nobody can accuse him of lifting it. That's the engine.

Cut as 90s R&B and Played Completely Straight

We cut it as 90s R&B, upbeat and smooth, male lead with stacked background vocals running call and response, which is the old trick where the lead sings a line and the backing voices answer him on the next beat. The production never winks. That's deliberate. A thousand is a ridiculous number on paper and a completely normal one inside a 90s R&B record, because that entire genre ran on men promising things no human body could deliver and sounding sincere the whole time. Over a trap beat it plays as a joke. Over this groove he means it.

Rosé's parentage does leave us with a problem, since we already have a track built on Cheelai turning up with a baby who might be John. If that holds, he and Rosé are related. We're keeping our options open.

Where to Listen

I'll Do You 1000 (Times) is streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and SoundCloud.

Nobody in the song ever asks him to prove the number. For a character the internet named after a placeholder, that's a decent first outing.
